THE COUPLE

Kim and Patrick met on February 5, 2011 (about time, Patrick!) and have been racing back and forth from Madisonville and Northside to be with each other ever since.

IN THE BEGINNING

This day to remember all started with a night to remember. Kim and Patrick met on the dance floor during DANCE.MF at the legendary Northside Tavern on February 5, 2011. Out of the corner of his eye, Patrick noticed a certain lovely brunette woman throwing down some swell dance moves with a couple friends (hi Adam & Anne), and, in one of his rare surges of intelligence, decided that he had to dance with her. At the same time, Kim noticed a bearded fellow in a plaid shirt (just how she likes them, thankfully) giving her the eye from across the dance floor. Creeper or cool? She asked herself. We won't comment on the final determination here, but the two immediately hit it off over their shared love of international travel, music and, of course, the cats. The night ended with the sharing of digits and a promise to see each other again soon.

IT'S A LONG, Awesome STORY

What followed was a fantastic courtship that included indulging in the aforementioned love of international travel, with trips to Vietnam, Japan and the Philippines, and a joint exploration of their love for craft beer (especially of the local variety) and music. They also relished in celebrating their differences, sharing new experiences and gaining new groups of friends. With their jobs and various other extracurricular engagements, it's obvious Kim and Patrick love to work. It's a good thing that they love even more to work together, be it an afternoon on their laptops in a coffee shop or talking strategy over dinner. (Did I just make us sound boring?) The TL;DR version here is that Kim and Patrick are true partners, best friends and the love of each other's life.

It's about time

When you already know you want to spend the rest of your life with someone, you can get caught up a bit in trying to find the best (and most labor intensive, treacherous, hanging-off-the-side-of-a-building) way to tell them, right? Right? Nobody? Ok. Well, Patrick decided that a Rhinegeist New Year's party was the best cover for him (with the help of his friend/business partner Scott) to covertly strap an 8' x 4' sign indicating his honorable intentions to the side of the Apex building (aka Losantiville Design Collective) just behind Rhinegeist. Mid-way through the evening, Patrick snuck out to light the sign using, wit, subterfuge and charm (and a long restroom line) to slip away unnoticed. As the night came to a close, Kim and Patrick walked back with some friends to the building and, when Kim turned around to read the sign, Patrick kneeled in front of her. Spoiler alert: she said yes!
